
Environmental Education Programs

IERCD educators travel to schools, environmental education centers, libraries, and other community facilities in order to present environmental education programs to students in grades ranging from Pre-Kindergarten to twelfth grade. Currently, all of the below listed programs are available for students in grades Pre K-8, with the Recycle, Reduce, Reuse and Water Use Efficiency Programs available for grades 9-12.
All IERCD education programs are conducted free of charge and are approximately 45-minutes in length, with the programs for Pre-K and Kindergarten lasting 30 minutes. All are designed to meet California State Standards and are grade level appropriate. Lesson plans are available for review upon request.
Conservation Education Programs

Promotes wise use of our resources by teaching the importance of reducing, reusing the recycling, and how they can be implemented at home.

This program teaches the benefits of native plants in our environment. Students have the opportunity to plant a seed and learn how to care for it.

This program enhances awareness about wildlife and natural resources that typically exist in the students' own backyards.

Through participation in hands-on exercises, students learn more about the earth's soil and its role in a healthy natural environment for all species.

This program emphasizes the local landscape and watershed. Students will learn where our water comes from and ways to conserve this precious resource.

Students will take part in hands-on activities that emphasize the importance of wetlands.

Students will use a hands-on model to learn the causes and consequences of non-point source pollution, as well as what can be done to prevent it.

Students learn the importance of energy and natural resources in our daily lives. They learn about where energy comes from and how to conserve at home.

Program focuses on "closing the gap between the grower and the eater". Students will learn about the benefits of local food and assemble a healthy snack.

(6th-12th grade) Program focuses on informing youth of the causes and effects of climate change.
